Boarding at Girls' High School
Fully involved in the life of the school
The Boarding Establishment is situated in lovely grounds adjacent to the school. Boarding Establishment life enables girls to take a full part in the day-to-day activities offered at school. The girls are therefore able to balance their numerous commitments and keep up with their schoolwork. At the same time they are able to maintain close contact with home as they may go home (if they live close enough) after their sporting commitments have been met. Weekends at the Boarding Establishment are lots of fun!
Facilities
"A great sense of camaraderie develops in the dormitories"

Amazing Facilities
The Boarding Establishment houses 220 girls. The Grade 8 girls are housed in the dormitories in Lindsay House: Piccadilly, Land’s End, Mayfair and John O’Groats. The philosophy behind this is that in their first year it is easier for a girl to settle in if she shares with a number of girls, rather than having to share with only one other. A great sense of camaraderie develops in the dormitories.
From Grade 9 onwards the girls are in cubicles which house two girls. These are situated in Lindsay House: Fairy Land, Windswept, Aviary and Pool View; Grundy House: Hadedah and Acacia; and Shongololo. The McNeil/Turner Wing accommodates seniors in single rooms.
On the ground floor there are lounges, homework rooms, sick bay, computer rooms, the dining room and a games area.
Care
"..responsible for the welfare and behaviour of all the girls.."

How we take care
The Boarding Establishment falls directly under the control of the School Governing Body, the Principal and the Boarder Superintendent. A Lady Warden, Matrons and Boarder Mistresses live in the Boarding Establishment and are responsible for the welfare and behaviour of all the girls.
They are ably supported by the senior girls led by the Boarder Head Prefect and her two Deputy Prefects. The School Sister is always on call and holds a daily clinic.
Each dormitory or ‘wing’ is under the care of the senior girls. They are there to assist with both discipline and pastoral care. Each Grade 8 girls has a matric girl who assists her in settling down to Boarding Establishment life. If any girl falls ill in the night she will be cared for by the Boarder Mistress and Matron on duty. If it is serious she will be taken to hospital and her parents informed.
Routine
"The BE uses a booklet to explain the rules and routines to girls in its care."

Our Routine
On arriving at the Boarding Establishment all girls receive a booklet concerning the rules and routine of boarding establishment life. It is obligatory that girls attend all meals. The day to day tidiness of their living space is also their responsibility so that the cleaning staff are able to do their jobs easily. Homework time is also compulsory.
