Developing problem-solving skills

The Technology learning area forms part of the GET phase only. Through this learning area the learners acquire the methodology for developing problem-solving skills. Technology at GHS is an eighteen month course. It is semesterised in Grade 8 and completed for the duration of the year in Grade 9. A number of skills are taught to facilitate this major outcome. Assessment are varied and include practical tasks, skills used in design process, such as graphic communication, safety with equipment, processing of food, the functioning of systems that control things.
