Article in the Witness 22 November 2011

We have ended the year on a high note with both the 1st Indoor Hockey Team as well as the1st WaterpoloTeam winning all of their matches.

The Indoor Hockey girls played a total of 6 matches against: St Johns, Howick, TWC, Epworth,St Annes and Treverton.  All the games were played at a frantic pace with both teams trying desperately to outplay the other.  Girls' High must be commended on an excellent team spirit as well as sound and determined structural performances which allowed their clinical strikers to convert.  The Green Machine scored a total of 33 goals and conceeded only 5.  Sine Zungu was outstanding all season ending on an 11 goal contribution to her team's total.

The Waterpolo girls played a total of 5 games against Epworth, Treverton, TWC, St Johns and St Annes. Again it was an intense season during which the girls worked exceptionally hard, under new coach Jolene Joubert, to maintain a high standard.  A total of 50 goals were scored and 11 were conceeded.

A number of our waterpolo players were selected for Midlands Teams. Carmelle Smith and Jade Swanepoel went on to be selected for the KZN U16A Team and Zoe Holder was selected as a non travelling reserve forthe KZN U14A Team.

The Hindu Society

The Hindu society co-ordinated a very successful outreach programme whereby gift boxes were made for needy children.  This outreach was the initiative of the Children giving Children campaign.  A total of 285 boxes containing toiletries for teens and toys and stationery items for younger children were made.  The Grade 9Gs made a total of 74 boxes and they were treated to McFlurry ice-creams for their effort.
