GHS OLD GIRLS’ REUNION ASSEMBLY 2011

On Friday 12 August, representatives from the Senior Certificate classes of 1951, 1961, 1991 and 2001 gathered at their old school to participate in a Reunion Assembly followed by tea and a guided tour of the school.

The assembly included music provided by the GHS Wind Band, Choir and Gospel Choir and a power point presentation highlighting some of the events and developments associated with the four years concerned.

A representative of each of the years gave a short talk.

• 60 Year Reunion: Elsa Radloff (Bamford) pointed out how far the influence of GHS has spread by enumerating the combined numbers of children and grandchildren which their small class of 1961 had.
• 50 Year Reunion: Jenny Milne (Smith) gave some good examples of the things which the girls would not have had in 1961 but now take for granted. She also pointed out how proud they were that their classmate, Susan Allison (Rice) had been Principal of GHS from 1998 to 2009.

• 20 Year Reunion: Lauren Frost (Demmer) was excited about the large number of girls that she and Candice Warr (Bowen) had managed to assemble, despite the fact that many of the class of 1991 are now overseas. She mentioned some of the memorable and influential teachers that had taught them.
• 10 Year Reunion: Zanele Bhengu encouraged the girls to enjoy and make the most of their years at GHS.

The Old Girls were impressed by the school and by the girls who entertained and showed them around.
